World Business Council

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) is a coalition of some 200 international companies united by a commitment to sustainable development through innovation, ecoefficiency and corporate responsibility.

ACCIONA Chairman and CEO Jose Manuel Entrecanales was re-elected in November 2011 for a second period as member of the Executive Committee of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, period which ended at the end of 2015.

Throughout 2016, ACCIONA continued participating – together with other industry companies – in the initiatives Scaling Up Renewables in the electricity mix and Power Purchase Agreements, which seek to promote renewable energies within the Low Carbon Technology Partnerships initiative (LCTPi).

This initiative brings together more than 150 companies and 70 partners to accelerate development and transition towards the use of low-carbon technologies, strengthening the goals for reducing emissions and accelerating the development of technology to keep global temperature rise under 2ºC.
