In service since late 2016, El Romero Solar was built and is operated by ACCIONA Energy, a global leader in the development of renewable energy assets. The plant is located in the Atacama Desert, one of the driest places on the planet, and with the highest level of solar radiation and very clean air, which facilitates the capture of the sun’s energy. With 246.5 MWp peak capacity, El Romero Solar produces energy equivalent to the consumption of around 240,000 Chilean homes. Up to 80 MW of them are used to cover 100% of Google's data center energy consumption in Chile.
