  • A group of 50 twelve-year-old girls and eight mentors share their vision of 21st century professional role models for women
  • Under the motto "Girls without limits: the energy of the future", ACCIONA has become the main partner of Inspiring Girls in Spain
  • The event was chaired by Isabel García-Tejerina, Spanish Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment.

Inspiring Girls and ACCIONA organised an encounter between professional women from several fields and 50 twelve-year-old girls in order to showcase women's options in the labour market and create support networks to enable them to develop their full potential.

Under the motto "Girls without limits: the energy of the future", eight women participated as volunteers in today's meeting: six ACCIONA employees with a range of profiles (heads of HR and Sustainability, engineers, finance and risk managers, marketing experts...); Olympic athlete Carlota Castrejana; and María del Pilar Mañas Brugat, the first female Commander in the Spanish Air Force and Head of the Madrid Airspace Command. For an hour and a half, the mentors shared their experiences with the girls, providing them with several professional role models towards they can focus their personal development.

The event was supported by ACCIONA as Inspiring Girls' main partner in Spain; the organisation, founded by Miriam González Durántez, aims to strengthen girls' vision of their professional opportunities, life models and aspirations in order to avoid gender stereotypes.

In addition to the volunteers who participated in this event, ACCIONA will promote corporate volunteer work among its staff so that, in collaboration with Inspiring Girls, the company's female employees can give talks in schools about joining the labour market and participate in more events throughout Spain.

After the meeting between the girls and their mentors, Isabel García-Tejerina, Spanish Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, presided over the institutional presentation of the event "Girls without limits: the energy of the future". Marta Pérez Dorao, Chair of Inspiring Girls Spain, and Isabel Gistau, ACCIONA's Global Brand Director and representative of the volunteers, highlighted the importance of such initiatives to promote effective gender equality based on women having an ambitious and realistic vision of their own potential. The event concluded with remarks by Miriam González Durántez, Chair of Inspiring Girls International, who started the project in the United Kingdom four years ago and is now promoting its deployment in other countries.
