ACCIONA Service continues to consolidate its presence in Mexico following the signature of a contract with the German company Audi. The service, which started on 1 April, includes the industrial cleaning of the new plant the automotive manufacturer is building at San José Chiapa, in the State of Puebla. When it opens in the second semester of 2016 the Audi factory is expected to produce 150,000 units of the Q5 model every year.
The sum of the contract, which will run for 3 years with a possible extension of another year, is 4.2 million dollars and it covers the industrial cleaning of the part of the plant that has been completed.
ACCIONA Service’s extensive experience of more than 30 years in the automotive sector as an end-to-end manager of auxiliary services was a key factor in winning the contract. In Mexico, the company also undertakes the end-to-end operation and maintenance of the General Motors factory in San Luis Potosí, the first Facility Management contract awarded to ACCIONA in Mexico in this sector.
Volkswagen has also renewed its trust in ACCIONA Service, which has carried out the industrial maintenance, internal logistics, waste management, fire prevention and helpdesk services at its Autoeuropa plant in Portugal since 1993, as well as the industrial cleaning, maintenance, fire prevention, gardening and auxiliary services related to finished vehicle production in the Martorell, Zona Franca and Gearbox plants of SEAT (also part of the Volkswagen Group).
The new contract with Audi joins those already managed by ACCIONA Service in the country in other sectors such as healthcare, education and retail, with clients such as the Universidad Politécnica de San Luis Potosí, the High Specialty Regional Hospital of León, CPD de Bancomer or the self-service chain Chedraui, among others, employing more than 1,600 people in the country.
Thanks to its high level of specialization and a commitment to quality, ACCIONA Service has obtained the following quality certificates: 1SO 9001, Safety and Health at Work (OHSAS 18001) and ISO 14001 (Environment), awarded by the certifying body ARMS for all the activities it carries out in Mexico.
ACCIONA Service also works for the best-known firms in the automotive sector such asCitroën, Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Seat, Renault and Michelin in countries like Portugal, the United Kingdom, Germany, Rumania and Spain.
ACCIONA has been in Mexico since 1978. It currently has major projects in all its business areas (infrastructure – including construction, water and services – and renewable energies) with emblematic infrastructure projects such as Phase 5 of the Baja California Sur power plant, the Jala-Puerto Vallarta road, the first General Hospital of the Mexican Institute of Social Security in Nogales and the Atotonilco wastewater treatment plant, the biggest in the world. For its part, ACCIONA Energía presently owns and operates four wind farms in Oaxaca that represent around 20% of the country’s operational wind power capacity and has built an additional 303 MW for its clients, making it one of the main players in the renewables sector in this market.
