The Board of Directors of ACCIONA, a world leader in renewable energy, infrastructure projects and water management, agreed with its Nominations Committee to table the appointment of Miriam Gonzalez Durantez as a non-executive Director at its forthcoming AGM to be held on 10th June 2010.
The Board of Directors of ACCIONA, a world leader in renewable energy, infrastructure projects and water management, agreed with its Nominations Committee to table the appointment of Miriam González Durantez as a non-executive Director at its forthcoming AGM to be held on 10th June 2010.
Miriam González Durantez is a Partner at DLA Piper, a UK-based Law Firm, where she heads up their International Trade and EU Law Practice. Prior to this, she was a Policy Advisor to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on Middle Eastern and EU affairs and Senior Adviser to the European Commissioners Lord Patten and Bettina Ferrero-Waldner in Brussels.
The proposed appointment of Miriam Gónzalez Durantez to the Board demonstrates ACCIONA's commitment to international expansion. ACCIONA's main businesses operate in highly-regulated sectors and require close collaboration with international organisations, hence technical expertise and experience are an absolute priority for the Group. Miriam Gónzalez Durantez's twelve years experience at the European Commission along with her expertise in international trade and also as a Partner at DLA Piper will greatly contribute to the consolidation of ACCIONA's international footprint.
