Most of the floor space (80%) at the Splau Shopping Mall, developed by ACCIONA Real Estate and located adjacent to the RCD Espanyol soccer stadium, has already been snapped-up. Opening next May, the 54,500 square meter mall will feature a host of big name brands in fashion, electronics and leisure; a major food-store chain, an 18-screen movie complex, and will provide parking for more than 2,800 cars.

The mall features an innovative design and enjoys a prime location, and offers a broad range of leisure, restaurant and fashion options. It will serve around one million people within a radius of 10 minutes and more than 4,250,000 people in a half-hour radius. Splau has an open architecture in which stores make up a two-story ring.

The list of top-name brands at the 54,500 square-meter complex includes Zara, Bershka, Stradivarius, Mango, H&M, Jack&Jones, C&A, Massimo Dutti, Oysho and Primark. Opening mid-May, the mall is in one of Barcelona’s prime locations, in the third most-populated area of Catalonia, and aims to become a meeting point for local families and youngsters. Splau is located near the Ronda d’Alt junction and is easy to reach from downtown Barcelona via the Ronda del Litoral coastal road or using public transport (subway: Line 5; and buses 57, 67, 68, 95 and 153).

Pioneers in eco-efficient homes

All ACCIONA Real Estate projects incorporate sustainability principles, in line with one of the company’s main goals - to protect the environment. To do so, it follows three major lines of action: energy efficiency, efficient use of water, and clean construction and sustainable design.

ACCIONA Real Estate buildings are always designed to save energy, and feature materials and devices that ensure overall energy efficiency, limiting heating demand through passive insulation techniques and materials. Bioclimatic architecture technologies are used, as too are efficient heating and air conditioning systems, renewable energies –solar thermal, among others- regulating and automation systems, efficient lighting –low-consumption lights and timers-, energy efficient electrical appliances (A, A++) and low-consumption elevators.

To ensure the efficient use of water, buildings feature faucets with shut-off valves and double-flushing cisterns, while gardens and grounds are fitted with automated watering systems, native plants and recycling and reuse systems for gray water and rainwater for watering communal areas.

ACCIONA Real Estate builds using all the latest advances in habitability and accessibility, improvements in acoustics and ventilation, easy maintenance and efficient construction systems. It uses materials that have a low impact on the environment, through life-cycle analysis and by using environmentally certified recycled materials and FSC-approved wood. It also makes use of alternative systems for chlorine-free pool-water quality and waste management.
