ACCIONA wins the European Business Award for Corporate Sustainability

ACCIONA received yesterday in Rome the Award for Corporate Sustainability conferred by the European Business Award (EBA) Organisation. The Award comes as recognition of the Company's efforts and commitments with regard to sustainability, and values the fact that they are tightly linked to the Company's business strategy.

The annual Award for Corporate Sustainability is conferred on the organisation that best demonstrates a company-wide commitment to Corporate Sustainability. The award criterion is a clearly expressed and widely communicated corporate sustainability strategy with a main focus on actions launched to manage risk prevention from a commercial, environmental, governance and social development perspective above and beyond the requirements set by legislation.

ACCIONA's Director of Corporate Responsibility, Juan Ramón Silva, commented on the Award: "Since 2005, when ACCIONA announced its commitment to sustainability, it has remained an irrevocable and public company commitment". He added: "We believe that we can only be different if we are able to demonstrate in detail that our operations improve economic development, guarantee environmental protection and promote social equality. That's why we receive this Award with pride and joy as the concrete acknowledgement of our long term effort and dedication to sustainability".

The European Business Awards, a fully independent programme, recognise and celebrate business excellence across the 27 EU member states. They are open to organisations of different sectors and of any size: the judges use a formula based on success, innovation and business ethics to attribute the prize.
