- Record increase in ACC...
Total power generated by the Company reached 9,737 GWh (million kilowatt-hours), 73% higher than the same period in the previous year.
Wind power production rose by 51% to 7,465 GWh in the twelve countries where ACCIONA has operational assets.
Strong increase in hydroelectric generation, reaching 1,700 GWh.
Notable growth of production in Spain - 81% - strengthening the Company's position in that country.

ACCIONA Energy's electricity production increased strongly in the first six months of 2010. Installations belonging to the Company generated 9,737 million kilowatt-hours (GWh), representing an increase of 73% over the figures for the same period in the previous year. Wind power production -7,465 GWh- grew by 51% and accounted for 77% of the power generated by ACCIONA, while hydroelectric production reached 1,700 GWh (17.5% of the total). The semester also shows major increases in CSP (67%) and biomass (31%).
The incorporation of 2,540 MW more than last year -462 MW from the organic growth of the Energy Division and 2,078 MW acquired from Endesa-, combined with higher load factors in Spain, have led to this substantial increase in electricity generated by the Company.
ACCIONA generated 7,449 GWh in Spain (76.5% of the Group's total production), an increase of 80.5% on the previous year's figure. Its wind power generation in the country was 5,291 GWh (+49.4%).
Growth was even higher in hydroelectric power, to 1,700 GWh in comparison with 192 GWh the previous year. This was due to the incorporation of facilities acquired in 2009. Of this production, 465 GWh are from Special Regime plants and 1,235 GWh from Ordinary Regime power stations. Hydropower accounted for almost 23% of ACCIONA's total output in Spain.
In other countries, ACCIONA plants generated 2,288 GWh (23.5% of the total production) to June, an increase of 52% over the same period the previous year.
Outstanding countries were the US with 816 GWh (8.4% of the Group's total production); Australia 358 GWh (3.7%), and Mexico 319 GWh (3.3%). Installations in Canada, Portugal, Germany and South Korea were below 2% of the total production quota, while those in Italy, Greece, India and Hungary were below 1%.
Total energy production by ACCIONA in the 12 countries it has operational assets avoided the emission of 5.7 million tones of CO2 from January to June (taking into account the emission factor of each country).
At 30 June 2010 ACCIONA had installed capacity of 7,437 MW for electricity production, of which 6,230 MW are from wind power and 911 MW from hydropower. Other assets include 114 MW of CSP, 49 MW of photovoltaic, 33 MW of biomass and 100 MW of cogeneration. Within the leading renewables companies, ACCIONA has assets in the highest number of clean generation technologies.
By country, ACCIONA owns and operates 5,688 MW in Spain. Other European countries have the following capacities: Portugal 165 MW, Germany 150, Italy 71, Greece 48 and Hungary 24. In America, it has 554 MW in the USA, 251 in Mexico and 136 in Canada; in Asia, 62 MW in South Korea and 30 in India; and in Oceania, 258 MW in Australia. The company has also installed 1,555 MW for other customers in Spain, France, Morocco, the USA and Italy.
ACCIONA has 635 MW currently under construction, of which 217 MW are located in Spain and 418 MW in other countries. The latter are distributed in wind parks in Mexico (306 MW), Australia (46.5 MW), Canada (45 MW) and Italy (20.4 MW).
In Spain, apart from 35 MW of wind power capacity, the company is constructing CSP plants (150 MW), two of which will enter service in 2010, and two biomass plants (32 MW), which will also be operational before the end of the year.
