- ACCIONA Windpower sign...
The order - for 54 MW - will be applied in the Santa Vitória do Palmar wind power complex owned by the holding Atlantic, for which AWP was previously awarded another 153 MW.
The company is in the final phases of negotiation of another contract that will take its capacity to 837 MW in Brazil, its main market for 3 MW wind turbines.
ACCIONA Windpower (AWP), a subsidiary of the ACCIONA group that designs, manufactures and commercializes wind turbines, has signed a turbine supply contract in Brazil with the renewable energy generation holding company Atlantic Energias Renováveis for a total of 54 MW.
The contract includes the supply and assembly of eighteen AW125/3000 turbines of 3 MW capacity each and 125 meters rotor diameter, for the Santa Vitória do Palmar wind power complex in the state of Río Grande do Sul. The turbines - the biggest designed by ACCIONA Windpower - will be mounted on 120-meter-high concrete towers.
The contract complements the one signed with Atlantic this June, whereby AWP will supply 51 turbines (153 MW) for the same wind power complex. The new agreement has emerged from the latest auction (A-3 2014) for the purchase and sale of energy organized by the Federal Government of Brazil.
With this new agreement, ACCIONA Windpower currently has seven wind turbine supply contracts in Brazil and is in the final phase of negotiating another for 117 MW, allowing it to reach a total of 837 MW contracted in the country, its main market for its 3MW wind platform at present.
ACCIONA has a hub manufacturing plant in Brazil, and covers the supply of main components for the turbines (such as blades) from local companies, in addition to other smaller components. In the last trimester of 2014 it will put a nacelle assembly plant into service in the country.
At present, the company's activity has created or consolidated more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs in Brazil.
