A rapidly growing portfolio of potential projects for ACCIONA in Australia has been bolstered by the shortlisting of the company's consortium for the operation and maintenance of water supply, wastewater and recycled water services in metropolitan Adelaide, South Australia.

A rapidly growing portfolio of potential projects for ACCIONA in Australia has been bolstered by the shortlisting of the company's consortium for the operation and maintenance of water supply, wastewater and recycled water services in metropolitan Adelaide, South Australia.

As a partner in the Metro Aqua Alliance, ACCIONA's specialist water division ACCIONA Agua joins United Utilities Australia and Thiess Services to form one of two consortia shortlisted by SA Water for this Alliance project.

"South Australia is a key growth market for ACCIONA in Australia, including our water, renewable energy and infrastructure operations," said ACCIONA Group Managing Director Asia-Pacific, Brett Thomas.

ACCIONA Agua Development Director - Australia Jose Maria Ortega said he was delighted that awareness of ACCIONA Agua as a global innovator in sustainable water solutions was leading to shortlisting and selection for a number of major water projects nationwide.

"Over the last three years we have gone from launching operations in Australia to having a strong pipeline of project opportunities," Mr Ortega continued.  "ACCIONA Agua is currently part of the consortium that is designing, building and will operate the desalination plant at Port Stanvac."

Mr Thomas noted that worldwide, ACCIONA Agua projects are treating, reusing, desalinating and managing water for 50 million people.  "So it makes sense that we seek to apply this extensive experience in Australia, the driest inhabited continent in the world," he concluded.
