ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño wins best European public event bronze elephant for San Sebastian bicentenary

ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño earned recognition at the European Best Event Awards (EuBEA) with the Bronze Elephant in the Best Public Event of 2013 category for the design and execution of '200 years building San Sebastian',commemorating the bicentennary of the burning and reconstruction of the city. It consisted of an audiovisual projection employing a mapping technique which combines 3D images, music and special effects to reflect the historical and cultural legacy of San Sebastian as well as its evolution in the last 200 years.

The show was screened from 20 June until 2 July 2013 on the façade of San Sebastian City Hall, covering about 700 square meters. ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño employed 8 projectors of 22,000 lumens each, with a 4,000 pixel image quality and 60,000 watts of sound.

The jury valued the way ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño employed cutting-edge technologies as a vehicle to transmit local culture, create an audiovisual show accessible to all citizens and foster sustainability —the event was 'carbon neutral', ensuring all associated CO₂ emissions were offset.

The European Best Event Awards, which celebrated its ninth edition this year, are Europe's leading event industry awards. There were 163 submissions this year, of which 90 were shortlisted for the final stage in which entrants explained the nature and strong points of their submissions to an international jury panel consisting of authoritative representatives of the corporate event world. 

The awards ceremony took place on Friday in Seville as part of the first International Festival of Events and Live Communication.

ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño has previously been awarded the Golden Elephant Trophy in the Cultural Event category at the 2012 Edition of the European Best Events Awards for the Commemoration of the 8th Centenary of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela; the 2013 Golden Elephant Trophy in the Sustainable Event category for its 'Día de la Música 2012' urban music festival; and the Silver Elephant Trophy in the  Cultural Event category for its Christmas Seville 2012 Christmas mapping.
