Windfarm Experience recreates a visit to a wind farm on the company’s stand in AWEA 2016, which is being held in New Orleans (USA) until May 26th
Visitors can climb to the top of a wind turbine and interact with the machine’s components, as well as taking a stroll on the outside of the nacelle
In AWEA Windpower, the biggest wind power fair in North America, being held in New Orleans (Louisiana, USA) until May 26th, ACCIONA Energía is presenting a 100% immersive virtual reality (VR) experience that will allow visitors to its stand to make an imaginary visit to a wind farm for the first time.
Thanks to a system using the latest VR technology, including goggles and two joystick-type controls for the hands, the user can make a virtual tour of a wind farm, go up the inside of a wind turbine tower in an elevator up to the nacelle, look around the interior, interact with the different elements and then go outside the nacelle for a great view of the landscape from the top of the machine. All this takes place in a virtual 3D environment that creates the illusion of taking part in a real experience.
The software of this product, which the company is presenting in public for the first time, has been developed by the ACCIONA’s Innovation Department together with ACCIONA Energía as a novel tool to allow visitors and customers to get to know the services we offer in a more detailed and attractive way, and also the operational facilities of the company, without the need to actually travel to a particular site.
ACCIONA Energy is taking part for the ninth consecutive year as an exhibitor in AWEA Windpower, organized by the American Wind Energy Association, which brings together leading sector companies – project developers, turbine manufactures and service providers, among many others – and experts from the institutional and academic worlds. As ACCIONA Energy North America CEO Ilya Hartman says, “North America is a very important market for renewables and for ACCIONA. We are exhibiting at Windpower in as part of a broader effort to grow our renewable energy portfolio in the U.S. and Canada.”
ACCIONA will be exhibiting at booth 2138. ACCIONA’s exhibit highlights the company’s leadership in sustainability, its position as the biggest global operator exclusively working in renewable energies, and its presence in wind and solar power throughout the region.
ACCIONA Energía has a strong track record in North America, a region it has operated in for 15 years and installed 1,834 MW in wind and solar power, either in its own plants or project built for third-party customers: 693 MW in the USA, 283 MW in Canada and 858 MW in Mexico.
The company has renewed its investment activity in the North American market with the construction of the San Roman wind farm (93 MW) in Texas. It also has several hundred MW under development in the country and is working to acquire additional late-stage projects. in Mexico, ACCIONA was awarded 168 MW of wind power capacity in the country’s first energy auction.
ACCIONA Energy North America Operations Vice-president Krys Rootham will moderate the session titled O&M Perspective of Owners and Operators in the conference program of the event on Tuesday 24 May at 11:30.
