The company received the Green Phoenix Statue during the Eco Power Generation Industry Gala held in Opole.
ACCIONA Energía owns and operates two wind farms in the country totaling 71 megawatts (MW) capacity.
ACCIONA Energía has been awarded the first Prize by the Green Phoenix Foundation for the Development of Ecoenergy in recognition of its innovative solutions in the wind power sector in Poland, where the company owns and operates two wind farms with a total capacity of megawatts (MW).
The prize was announced during the Eco Power Generation Industry Gala held in Opole (Poland) on 9th October. The Green Phoenix Foundation is a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting all social groups, local governments and business in the popularization and implementation of innovative solutions for renewable energy, energy efficiency, alternative fuels and organic waste.
Prominent Polish celebrities such as MEP Prof. Jerzy Buzek, formerly President of the European Parliament and currently Chairperson of the Programme Board; Andrzej Kassenberg, President of the Institute for Sustainable Development; Prof. Jan Popczyk, Silesian University of Technology andDr. Zenon Wiertelorz, Secretary of the Programme Board , belong to the board that supervises the Foundation’s activities.
The prize was received by ACCIONA Energy Poland Managing Director Andrzej Konarowski. In his speech, Konarowski said that this recognition was “an inspiration to us and a motivation that all our projects and the energy of all employees of ACCIONA may turn to green energy for all of us”.
Particularly, he focused on the Krobia I Wind Farm, a project made up of eleven 3 MW wind turbines built using the innovative technology of ACCIONA. The rotor diameter is 116 meters and its rotation covers an area of 1.5 football pitches. The wind turbines are installed on 120-meter concrete towers manufactured on-site with the participation of local enterprises. This was the first such wind farm in the world when it entered service a year ago.
