José Manuel Entrecanales, chairman of ACCIONA, was invited by the European Commission to contribute new ideas for a growth strategy for Europe
Chairman says a new sustainable energy model could deliver economic growth, jobs and technological leadership for Europe
ACCIONA Chairman José Manuel Entrecanales today called on the European Union to accelerate the transition to a new, sustainable energy model, based on clean technologies, as a cost-efficient strategy for reviving economic growth in Europe.
Speaking at a conference in Brussels organised by the European Commission to explore new growth strategies for the continent, Mr Entrecanales said investment in renewable energy would secure Europe's technological leadership in this fast-growing global industry, in addition to delivering energy security, price stability and the environmental benefits of burning less fossil fuel.
Other high-raking speakers at the Brussels conference, "Mission:Growth", included the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Durão Barroso, the Vice-President Antonio Tajani, and Spain's Minister for Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria. The speakers discussed new ideas for a European growth strategy based on the real economy and industrial innovation that would also reinforce Europe's leading role in technological development.
