ACCIONA becomes the first Spanish company to create a Sustainability Committee

ACCIONA’s Board of Director’s has given the official go ahead for the creation of a Sustainability Committee whose responsibility it will be to orientate and supervise the Company’s Social Responsibility policy, based on a commitment to sustainability.

LandscapeThe move makes ACCIONA the first Spanish company with a specific SR committee within the Board of Directors, the Company’s highest governing body. This involvement at the highest level is a clear indication of the importance placed by ACCIONA on its commitment to sustainability.

The Sustainability Committee is chaired by Fernando Rodés, an independent director, and will have three members: Jaime Castellanos and Ms. Consuelo Crespo (both independent directors) and dominical director Daniel Entrecanales.

The main function of the Committee will be to identify and orientate the Company’s Sustainability and Social Responsibility policy, objectives and programmes; assess the execution Plan and carry out regular compliance reviews. Similarly, it will be oversee the drafting of the Sustainability Report - which will be subject to approval by the Board - and will be responsible for reporting to the Board on all matters concerning Sustainability and Social Responsibility policies, goals and programmes.

The Sustainability Committee will meet every quarter to assess the level of compliance of the Sustainability and Social Responsibility policies approved by the Board, and will also meet whenever it is required to voice an opinion or announce a decision.

The creation of this new Committee is a clear indication of ACCIONA’s commitment to sustainable development.
