A construction and 30-year management contract for the second highway in Andalusia's Regional Roads Plan.

ACCIONA has been awarded a 104.22 million euro construction, conservation and operation contract for the Purchena- Mediterranean Highway (A-7) stretch of the Almanzora Highway. Construction will take 36 months and the project is expected to create more than 2,000 jobs.

The contract, awarded by the Board of the Andalusia Regional Government Agency of Public Works, is part of the Regional Civil Works and Housing Department's investment plan and is being carried out as a Public Private joint venture. The award includes a 30-year conservation, maintenance and operation concession period as of the highway's entry into service.

The stretch awarded to ACCIONA comprises 40.76 kilometers and an additional 0.7km branch connecting the highway to the Albox-Almanzora Highway industrial park, giving local municipalities access to the Mediterranean Highway at Huércal-Overa. The highway will bring direct benefits to the local residents of 28 municipalities (more than 70,000 people). The project sets out to turn Almanzora into a strategic road communications point between Levante (Spain's eastern seaboard) and the northern area of Granada and Almeria, connecting them to Western Andalusia through the A-92 corridor.

As well as ACCIONA, this Temporary Joint Venture is made up of Meridiam, Cintra (Ferrovial), Detea, Montealto and Felipe Castellano.
