Four own wind farms

ACCIONA Energy began its wind power installation program in Canada in 2003 with the 30 MW Magrath wind farm in Alberta, developed with partners Suncor and Enbridge. Since then, it has installed another three own wind farms: Chin Chute (30 MW), also developed in Alberta with the same partners; Ripley (76 MW), built in Ontario and 50% owned with Suncor; and Lamèque in New Brunswick, a 45 MW facility connected in 2011 and made up of 30 ACCIONA Windpower AW1500 units, 100% owned by ACCIONA.

Royal Jubilee and Fort Saint John

In April 2008, ACCIONA was awarded its first project for concession in Canada—the expansion of the Royal Jubilee hospital in Victoria, British Columbia. The contract included the design, construction, financing and management for 30 years. The expansion entailed a new hospital ward of 500 beds and was inaugurated in December 2011 and obtained the Gold LEED Certification—the highest category in sustainability granted in construction. ACCIONA Facility Services has been working in the management of the hospital since 2012 with great success.

In June 2012, ACCIONA inaugurated Fort St. John Hospital, which has 55 beds and a retirement home attached with 123 additional beds. The contract includes the design, construction, financing and management for 30 years.

Montreal A-30 roadway

In December 2012, ACCIONA inaugurated the A-30 Châteauguay-Vaudreil-Dorion highway in Quebec along with its partners in the consortium. The 42 km-long project was awarded in October 2008, including the operation and maintenance for the next 30 years.

Deep Lake Water Cooling of Toronto

Deep Lake Water Cooling of Toronto (2002 - 2004). The project avoids the emission of 79,000 tons of CO2 per year. It assembled a 15,000 m-long pipeline made of 1.6 meter diameter high density polyethylene (HDPE) fused together and spread out across the bottom of the lake, up to 83 m in depth. Construction of a heat exchange plant, including 36 large heat exchangers.

Windsor Essex Parkway

ACCIONA, as a part of the Windsor Essex Mobility Group, was chosen in November 2010 to design, construct, finance and operate the Windsor Essex Parkway. It is the largest road project in the province of Ontario. The highway is part of a project that will join the city of Windsor with the United States border in the state of Michigan, and will be inaugurated in September 2014.

WalterdaleBridge

In April 2013, ACCIONA was awarded the construction of the Walterdale Bridge in Edmonton, along with its partner Pacer. The project is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in mid-2016.

South Canoe wind farm

Equipped with 34 ACCIONA Windpower AW116/3000 turbines, totaling 102 MW of capacity, South Canoe wind farm was built, and is operated by, ACCIONA Energy for third parties Oxford Frozen Foods, Minas Basin Pulp and Power, and Nova Scotia Power. The facility is located in Nova Scotia province on Canada’s Atlantic Coast.  It began operating in 2015.

Saint John DWTP

This project consists of the renovation of the water distribution network in the city of Saint John in the province of New Brunswick in northeast Canada.

It involves design, construction, operation, refurbishment and financing of a Drinking Water Treatment Plant (DWTP) with a capacity of 75 million liters per day, and a water storage tank of 33 million liters capacity, to supply around 70,000 people.

The work also includes improvements to pumping stations and the water storage system, as well as replacement of 22.4 kilometers of the pipe network and refurbishment of a further 19.3km.
