ACCIONA has been operating in Chile, one of its strategic markets in South America, since 1993. It is actively involved in infrastructure projects for both the public and private sectors. It also provides innovative solutions in energy and desalination. The Infrastructure and Water divisions were the first to open offices there, and the Energy division arrived later. ACCIONA Forwarding also operates in Chile.
The Copiapó Desalination Plant in Atacama will be the first for the Chilean mining industry. It will have a capacity of 400 I/s. It is located next to the Port of Punta Totoralillo, owned by CAP Mining in Atacama. This project comes from the need to guarantee water in the mining operations in the region. The plant is already in the operation phase since September 2014.

Concession for the design, construction, financing, maintenance and exploitation of 23.5 km of highway. The highway contains two 5-lane roads. The magazine Project Finance awarded the highway with the "Latin American Transport Deal of the Year 2004" for being the first time that the Chilean government applied income distribution to a concession and that a bank co-financed a toll road along with investors in Chilean bonds. Acciona later sold the concession.
Since October 2015, ACCIONA Energy has been building what will be its biggest photovoltaic plant to date, and the largest such facility in Latin America, in the Atacama Desert in Chile. With a 246.5 MWp peak capacity, thanks to 777,000 photovoltaic modules, El Romero Solar will produce electricity equivalent to consumption by some 240,000 Chilean homes when it enters into operation in mid-2017. 80 MW of its capacity will be dedicated to supplying Google’s data center in Chile.
