Site C Clean Energy Project
One of the biggest dams in Canada.
Consists of one of the country’s biggest-ever infrastructure projects. Forms part of an energy project including a 1,100 MW hydroelectric power station in British Columbia for BC Hydro, the province’s electric utility.
The project includes the construction of an earth dam, two bypass tunnels, a concrete foundation for the generating station, and spillways.
OBJECTIVE
To cover 40% of energy demand in the area of influence.
BENEFIT
Sufficient supply to meet the demand of 450,000 homes. It will contribute a large quantity of clean, renewable energy to BC and favor economic development and job creation.
