      El Ferrol Outer Harbor

      New port covers an area of 100 hectares on the outer El Ferrol estuary in A Coruña, Spain.

      The contract has two phases including the construction of the new port sheltered by Cape Prioriño Chico in the Caneliñas Inlet. It is Galicia’s first outer harbor.

      The port is sheltered by a 1,067-meter sloped levee built on natural ground, a 1,515-meter-long, 20-meter-deep riverside wharf and a 145-m long, 10-m deep ancillary quay.

      OBJECTIVE

      Increase capacity and ensure the operability of the facilities for sea traffic.

      BENEFIT

      Doubles the number of cubic meters of available forecourts and berthing lines. Promotes economic development along the estuary.

      MILESTONE

      Galicia’s first outer harbor.
